ACTIVITIES

Camping Arkeo is located in the heart of the Belgian Ardennes, a region known for its beautiful nature and outdoor activities. You can easily spend a few weeks here, doing something different every day.
From the campsite you can walk straight into the forest. The starting point for many beautiful hiking trails around the the river Ninglispo is nearby. You can also go mountain biking, climbing or horseback riding.
Furthermore you will find Forestia, a zoo in the middle of the forest; adventure park Spa Forest and the enchanting caves of Remouchamps. Lovers of castles visit Chateau De Logne or the ruins of the castle of Franchimont.

PS: sitting back, relaxing and doing nothing is also most certainly allowed!

CAVES OF REMOUCHAMPS
HIKING

The enchanting caves of Remouchamps are a ten-minute drive from the campsite. Discover the beautiful underground halls of up to 40 meters high, and let yourself be taken on a boat on the subterranean river.

Read more about prices and opening times here.

FORESTIA

Wolves, bears and lynx used to roam these woods and you can admire them in their natural habitat in the forests of Forestia. Kids of all ages will definitely enjoy themselves here. It's only 15 minutes drive from the campsite, and they serve a good lunch too.

View Forestia here.

ADVENTURE

In the Fraxinus Adventure park you can climb and play adventurously yet safely, also high above the ground. Within a secured course of net constructions you climb between treetops and you can jump up to 10 meters high on a trampoline. A good place to test your fear of heights. It is located in the Monde Sauvage animal park, so you can also catch some giraffes the same day.

More info here (only in French).

CASTLES

The Ardennes have a rich history and you can experience this in the various castles in the region. Some have fallen into ghostly ruins (and not at all touristy) and other castles have been beautifully restored so that you can imagine yourself back in the olden days. Nearby are Chateau de Franchimont, Chateau de Logne and the ruins of Chateau d'Amblève. The latter is especially recommended, because it can be combined with a walk (check the Komoot app), and a visit to the Elfique brewery as a conclusion.

SWIMMING

You can play and swim in the river at the campground. If you really want to go swimming somewhere, you can go to Domaine de Wégimont, among other places. Here you will find three outdoor pools near a castle and a petting zoo. In bad weather, you can also go to water park Aqua Mundo.

HORSE-BACK RIDING

Discover the forests, mountains and rivers of the Ardennes on horseback.

The Val de Lienne equestrian center is located in the valley of the small river Lienne. From here you can make beautiful trips through nature. You can find the contact information here.

ROCK CLIMBING

The old quarry Dieupart is a ten-minute drive away. This is a climbing wall of bluestone with several climbing routes at different levels and an abseil wall of up to 20 meters high. There is also a Via Ferrata (a wire-lined trail along rocky cliffs). More info here.

SPORTS AND KAYAKS

Outdoor specialist 'Newlife' organizes various typical Ardennes outdoor sports activities, such as mountain biking, climbing, kayaking and much more. A very nice team will take you on the road, and they speak Dutch (and also French and English). In the summer they have a fixed program of activities where you can book your daily; but they can also organize activities especially for groups.
Check their website for more information.

You can also kayak at Coo Adventures. You can board a kayak at fixed times every day without reservation and you will be brought back with a van. Note: pay cash. So beautiful to see the Amblève from the water! In the summer it is mainly a relaxed trip and certainly not exciting or dangerous because the water is not that high. If you are looking for more adventure, it is better to go to the river Ourthe.

You can opt for walks between 2.5 and 14 km, which lead you past waterfalls and water basins. Absolutely magical!

Tip: download the 'Komoot' app, create a profile, add Camping Arkeo and see a number of walks in the area that we can recommend. In any case, it is a handy app, because all the small hiking trails are also on it. This way you can wander around without really getting lost.

You can also check the local tourist office website for walks and other tips in the area.
